It feels like my kids have been tag teaming getting coughs and colds this winter...
Things got more interesting this past weekend
Mr flu bug came by uninvited that is...
It all started last Friday night...Ethan woke up just before midnight
Nathan had just got home from work and went up to check on Ethan...
Nate said he was stirring and all of a sudden threw up in his bed...
Nate got him to the toilet and I came running to help...
I saw my little boy throwing up in the toilet...
At first thought I was thinking he might have food poisoning...
and started to review what he ate for dinner...
After comforting Ethan before and after throwing up...
I cleaned the barf off the bed, changed the sheets and put a load of laundry on.
Ethan and Nate cuddled while I finished marking some assignments downstairs.
About a half and hour later I hear stirring upstairs and Nate calling my name.
Yup Ethan barfed again in bed but mostly on Nathan...
So we got Ethan up to the toilet...It was hard seeing my little guy so sick.
Then I cleaned Nate's arm, cleaned the bed and changed the sheets again.
Then put on another load of laundry...I stayed with Ethan until he settled back into a sleep with Nate.
I put a pail by the bed and went back downstairs to finish marking...
I was sure he must be done barfing now...As if anything else could come up
...Yup I was wrong.
This kept happening all night...
by 5am I got him into the bath to clean him up.
We cuddled downstairs on the couch...
I kept offering fluids to Ethan and surprisingly he kept asking for food...
I realized anything he put in his belly came back up so started to limit that.
I held him tight and he fell asleep for a bit.
By 7:30 am Ethan was asking for some strawberries...
I thought there was a chance he was done throwing up so gave him some
juicy fresh strawberries.
About twenty minutes later they reappeared in liquid form...
Most of the day Ethan looked like the photo below

He started to come around later that evening...
Grandma came over in the evening for a visit...
I was glad to see that Ethan was starting to feel better
and was happy to know it was almost over...
Little did I know it was just the start...
This is Toddy on Saturday while Ethan was quite sick...
It is hard to imagine this little man became very sick about 24 hours later
Yup that's right about 24 hours after this photo was taken,
Toddy then I were puking our guts out together...
It came on very quick...
One minute I had a headache and didn't feel well,
The next my head was in a toilet or a pail...
All Sunday night...It was intense...
I have not been this sick since I was a little girl.
It was violent...I will spare you the details...
Toddy and I spent the night in Ethan's car bed or on the couch downstairs.
We took turns getting sick...It was awful...
And even though I hurt bad...
It hurt even more knowing exactly how bad my little Toddy was feeling.
The nasty stuff lasted 24 hours then it was
headaches, fatigue, no appetite and a blaw type feeling which has lasted until today...
Today I finally started to feel better...
Ethan and Todd seem better also..
.Both are still being very cuddly
(Maybe the only part that is actually nice about my kids being sick)...
I have really enjoyed all the extra hugs and cuddles!
It is hard to believe Nathan got through this without getting sick...
He was barfed on at least a couple times by Ethan and Toddy...
I could see the fear in his eyes as he waited for his gut to start getting angry
He must be made of some strong immune fighting stuff...
So between the loads of laundry and containers of Lysol wipes,
I am happy to report we survived our first family outbreak of the flu
I must say I feel pretty lucky that this happened during my reading week at school...
Having a paper or assignment lingering over my head would have added to the drama
